1984 No.49 (full issue)...

The latest one from Dan, and it's the one that completes the 1984 weekly issues, No.49.  Shaky is on the cover and is inside in a big feature alongside a large picture, This is one of those issues that had a poster advert in the centre, so Shaky was suitably cut in half, the only way to see him in full was to pull him out of the centre.  The file contains the picture as you would have seen it reading the mag and at the end the full poster.  and interesting sports feature asking sports stars who they'd like to change places with if they wern't themselves, the CAP is OMD.  Also this week you may notice the Robin strip has a blacked out frame, this is to do with Colin Shelbournes anti violence stance, as a death scene was blacked out, as it was thought too much for a childs eyes, still looking for the 1984 Summer and Winter specials if anyone can help.......enjoy....

The Whole Story - man from Atlantis - Stories 1 and 2....

It's time to start another series, no requests this time, all your favourites must be there already, so I've gone with Man from Atlantis in an attempt to make sure all of Mike Nobles work is on display.

The series, very short lived, revolved around the last known survivor of the mythical area of Atlantis, somewhere deeper than man can reach, where people live underwater, he is found washed up on a beach and taken by Dr. Elizabeth Merrill to a research institute, where they are unable to revive him, spotting a strange gill like area on his neck she instictively takes him back to the beach and submerges him underwater where he miraculously comes to life.  He has lost his memory, so they give him the temporary name of Mark Harris and he decides to stay and work for the Institute, (The Foundation for Oceanic Research).  Inputting all known data about him they come to the conclusion that he must be from Atlantis and possibly the last known survivor.

Mark helps the institute in their endevours to keep the oceans safe and encounter a variety of problems most of which have something to do with the mysterious Mr. Schubert, a man who has given up on society, considers it a flawed and lives to create an undersea utopia where he can be free from most of them.  He becomes Marks arch nemesis as he keeps coming up with schemes to keep the Cetacean (the institutes high tech submarine) from interfering in his plans.  Unfortunately the series was cancelled after 13 episodes.

Mike Noble continued his fantastic run in Look-in with a strip that drew on his amazing way with animals, starting with Follyfoot and Black Beauty, and later with Timmy in Famous Five and other woodland creatures in Worzel, he just created such beauty in everything he did.  This strip was no exception, with an array of sea creatures, it was an amazing read, albeit for quite a short time.  Look-in must have been no doubt aware of viewing figures, seeing as more successful programmes lasted longer in the magazine, great while it lasted though...now enjoy Mark Harris' adventures in full here......
