Hi John - I'm 99% sure the artist here is Angus McBride, doing a fill-in story to let Mike Noble have a wee holiday. Angus certainly drew (amongst many others) the cover to 1971 issue 47 - signed as "McB" and annotated at the bottom of the Leslie Crowther strip and I'm as sure as I can be that the style on the strip itself is his, although adapted to be more like Mike Noble's and using a couple of pretty obvious photo-references.
ReplyDeleteHi Mike, That's an interesting piece of information, I wasn't aware that Angus did strip work, thought he just did paintings. I've update the above to show Angus' name.
