1979 No's 9, 12 and 26 (full issues)...

Let me take you back to 1979, for that is where the three issues for this week come from, We had Dick Turpin and CHiPs on TV, Boney M and Blondie in the charts and Battlestar Galactica was the big movie of the year.  By no strange coincidence all these appeared in Look-in too that year, and you can read about them today.  We start with No.9, and then follow with No.12, both of these issues have been completed by David, so big thanks to him, finally there is one of mine, No.26, with thanks to Dan for a few pages of this one too.  Enjoy everyone...

The Whole Story - Enid Blyton's Famous Five - Stories 1 and 2...

As usual a bit late with the mid-month, but we have a new series starting today.  Enid Blyton's Famous Five was the 70's take on Blyton's famous tale about four kids who had a seemingly endless supply of summer breaks at various places, and who alway seem to find trouble wherever they go.  The Five are George (Michelle Gallagher), Julian (Marcus Harris), Dick (Gary Russell) and Anne (Jenny Thanisch). The Five in question is completed by George's dog Timmy (played by Toddy) a Border Collie, who is invaluable as both a clue finder and an ice breaker when they are met by difficult people.

The places were usually on or around Kirrin Island owned by George's father and nearly every crime is covered in some 21 books in the series, The books have been covered in a number of adaptations in comics, radio and of course on TV.  This particular one, like the rest, is just a series of stories adapted from the original books, only a handful of them made it into Look-in.  In all, 18 stories made it to TV over two series, a third series was planned which would have seen to the remaining books, but the Blyton estate vetoed anyone using the characters in new stories, so sadly the idea was binned.

I didn't see the point in wasting space on stories that had just been shown on TV, and if not for Noble's beautiful artwork, would have gotten bored very quickly.  Still, it lasted quite a while and seemed to be enjoyed by readers in the main.

As each story is a pretty good length, I will be uploading them 1 a month, The first story is a short prologue before the first one, so I've uploaded that aswell for today.
